The Life After Cardiac Arrest resource contains a set of themes which relate to each interview. Each theme also contains a list of attributes, or related topics. If you’re not sure which video to watch first, try looking for one that may have a theme that relates to your own experiences. The following themes are listed below.
The OHCA event: The actual cardiac arrest itself and what happened immediately following the arrest, whether at home or in a public space.
In hospital: Being in hospital and what happened while the person who had the OHCA was an in-patient.
At home: What happens once the person who has had the OHCA is discharged home.
Feelings: This theme looks at the many different feelings experienced by the people on whom the OHCA has impacted.
Mental Health: The impact an OHCA has had on the mental well-being of those directly involved.
Physical Health: The ongoing physical health of OHCA survivors.
Lifestyle: The impact that an OHCA can have on everyday life.
Death & bereavement: This theme deals with grief and bereavement following the death of a close family member.
